Teaching Workshop
A.Y. 2019/2020
Learning objectives
The "Eat with the Eyes" workshop aims to address the relationship between cinema and food. The course consists of ten meetings on a weekly basis and aims to highlight the means, modalities and features that the big screen has been served through the food system.
The workshop offers an initial panorama to show how food has been the protagonist in cinema since the dawn of this industry, as it punctuated the very short films of the beginnings in the years of Lumiére and of Méliès, in order to be in the foreground even in silent pictures. After the introduction, the cycle of lessons will be articulated on a thematic basis, trying to address - subject by subject - the very different areas in which food enters, capable of being a common denominator of both dramatic works, comedies, funny or sentimental films such as fantasy or dictatorship, up to the present day.
