Course syllabus
The course program provides the study of the concept of sustainable development as the guiding principle of administrative action, aimed to satisfy the needs of the present generation, without compromising the possibility of the future generations to be able to satisfy their own (Report Brundtland).
In particular, the course will deal with the regulatory tools and policies through which public administration can orientate their own and affiliates' work towards the production of social well-being, the improvement of the living conditions of all citizens, the social justice and the protection of the environment.
The students will examine the various possible meanings of the expression "sustainable development" in the national and international context; then, they will study the main methods of sustainable governance, also through the study of practical cases; the areas considered all be: public contracts, urban planning, environmental law and climate change.
