Learning objectives
The course aims to present the main roles of the professionals who work in areas where the application of rules for the protection of animal welfare is relevant, with particular reference to animal husbandry and animal research.
Expected learning outcomes
Sudents will acquire knowledge about the application of professional expertise in the field of animal welfare, with reference to the main areas of interest for graduates in ABA and SPA.

Teaching methods:
Themed seminars will be offered, with the chance that external experts will participate. Lessons will be held face to face, where permitted by law, or using the Microsoft Teams platform
Course syllabus
Themed seminars, among the following subjects:
- professional figures in the field of animals transport
- professional figures in the field of breeding and boarding for companion animals
- professional figures in the field of animal experimentation
- the protection of fish species
- the role of the competent authority
- role of animal rangers
- welfare of fur animals
- the drawing up of technical reports
- the fundamentals of animal ethics, useful for professional figures engaged in protecting animal welfare
Additional topics can be assessed by the teacher during the course.

Prerequisites are not required.

Assessment methods and Criteria
The exam will take place in oral form, using the Microsoft teams platform or, where we are permitted to do so by applicable laws, conducted in presence, while maintaining the oral form.

- open-ended questions, related to the topics of the course, aimed at assessing the understanding of the activities
- discussion of a short essay ordered by the teacher during the course, related to one of the topics discussed
