The module is aimed at delineating the cornerstones of the inquisitorial process for heresy in front of the Roman Holy Office.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will have acquired the knowledge of the basic concepts related to the history of the Roman Inquisition and the inquisitorial process for heresy of modern age.

2. The summary procedure. Recourse to the inspection and appraisal.
3. The witness testimony.
4. The interrogation of the accused and the comparison between him.
5. The criteria for evaluating the evidences.
6. The repetition of testimonies and the right to defense.
7. Torture. Witchcraft trials.
8. The sentence of acquittal, canonical purgatio and retraction.
9. The sentence of abjuration and condemnation to the secular arm.
10. The condemnation of the default and the deceased.
