The module, which supplements the criminal law courses (Chairs A-C, D-L, M-Q, R-Z), involves activities to be carried out in penitentiaries and the courthouse, subject to authorization by the competent authorities; it will therefore be held in the second half of the year 2020/2021 only if the conditions linked to the health emergency by Covid-19 allow it and if the relevant authorizations are issued.

Course syllabus
The course is divided into two parts. The first part is dedicated to the profile of the application of criminal rules in the process. After a first introductory lesson, in the presence of magistrates and lawyers, two groups of students will be accompanied to the Palazzo di Giustizia in Milan, where they will have the opportunity to attend a hearing. At the outcome of these visits, a meeting will be held during which will be discussed issues related to criminal law.
The second part of the course is dedicated, however, to the profiles of the execution of the prison sentence. Students, divided into groups, will be accompanied to visit a penitentiary institution. At the outcome of the visits, a final lesson will be held, in the presence of experts of the criminal execution characterized by different professional skills, during which the students will have the opportunity to reflect on the experience.
Prerequisites for admission
Participation in the course is reserved for students who, in the first semester of the year 2020/2021, have attended the criminal law course. 50 students will be admitted to the course for each of the four criminal law professorships (A-C, D-L, M-Q, R-Z). The methods for the selection of applications for access to the module, by the students attending, will be communicated during the lessons by the teachers of the respective courses.ive authorizations.
Teaching methods
The course aims at giving the students the opportunity to live the reality of the criminal justice system, by attending a hearing at the criminal court of Milan, and by entering prison for a visit.
