Learning objectives
The course aims at providing students with a legal framework regarding the rights of peole with disabilities, through a critical analysis of the current legislation and the most important case-law.
Expected learning outcomes
- Knowledge of the specific legislative context and acquisition of autonomy in reasoning and interpretation;

- acquisition of skills in personal rielaboration of the basic notions and in their application to the cases;

- skills in understanding the importance of a multidisciplinary method

Teaching method
The lessons will be held in presence, if it is possible (mixed form). Anyway, they will be also transmitted in synchrony, at the same time, on the Microsoft Teams platform. All lessons will be recorded and available on Microsoft Teams and on the ARIEL platform during the semester.
The information on how to access the lessons on Microsoft Teams and all the other information reguarding the lessons will be uploaded on the ARIEL platform. Students are required to consult ARIEL constantly.

The program and the material will not be changed.

Learning verification and evaluation criteria
The exam will take place in oral form using the Microsoft Teams platform or, if permitted, in presence, always in oral form.
The evaluation criteria will not be changed.

There could be variations due to the development of the health situation.
In any case, in the event that it would be impossible to attend in presence, the development of distance learning would be guaranteed.
Course syllabus
The course focuses on the rights of people with disabilities, on the instruments to react to the discriminations they face, on the promotion of a culture of inclusion.
Starting from an analysis of the relevant constitutional framework, attention will also be paid to the supranational level; specifically to the ONU Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, that significantly contributed to promote a new cultural approach to the subject.
Moreover, through a deep analysis of the italian legislation, the course will focus on the rights of people with disabilities in the following fields: education, work and employment, health, accessibility, prison conditions.

Exam of Constitutional Law and Private Law
Teaching methods
Lessons on general topics integrated with lessons on specific cases, also with the participation of lawyers, public administrators, social workers, experts who directly work with persons with disabilities.
The course aims also at stimulating the active participation of the students, who will eventually prepare class presentations on current cases and specific topics.

Assessment methods and Criteria
Examination method: oral exam
Evaluation criteria: students shall be able to express notions correctly, to use appropriate terminology and prove reasoning skills.
