Learning objectives
The course is aimed at both beginner students and advanced students. For beginners, the goal is to reach the A2 level of the German language. For advanced students, the objective is to consolidate previous linguistic knowledge. The aim of the course for all participants is the acquisition of basic skills in the analysis of short text concerning various topics and of political and business texts (e.g. political system, economy, innovation).
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course students will be able to:
1. Actively use grammar knowledge (e.g. adjective inflection) in solving various types of written exercises (e.g. MCQ, gap-fill).
2. Answer to written questions (e.g. MCQ, gap-fill) about German texts dealt with in class (e.g. questions on the content, on specific words and on grammar).
3. Answer orally to questions in German about German texts dealt with in class (e.g. questions on the content, on specific words and on grammar).
4. Propose a translation of texts dealt with in class.
5. Independently understand short German texts on topics similar to those analyzed in class.
6. Answer to written questions (e.g. MCQ, gap-fill) in German about texts on topics similar to those analyzed in class.
7. Answer orally to questions in German about texts on topics similar to those analyzed in class.
8. Produce short written texts in German.

The lectures will be held on Microsoft Teams (the team code is available on Ariel "Lingua Tedesca REL") and can be followed both synchronously based on the timetable of the second trimester and asynchronously because they will be recorded and left available to students on Microsoft Teams.

Analysis of Germans texts: the analysis is aimed at content, at vocabulary and at grammatical elements.
B. 40 hours (Nicolò Calpestrati)
- Phonetics and intonation; nouns; pronouns (personal, interrogative); adjective inflection; prepositions (locative and temporal); verbs (Präsens, Perfekt, modal verbs); adverbs (locative and temporal); conjunctions and sentence structure (dass, causal, temporal); negative forms.
- Pronouns (relative, reflexives); verbs (Präteritum, reflexive verbs); prepositions (modal and causal); adverbs (modal, causal, consecutive); sentence structure (final, concessive, adversative).

1. intermediate written (computer-based) test or written (computer-based) exam during official exam sessions;
2. oral exam (official exam sessions). Intermediate test or written exam are preparatory to the oral exam.
Intermediate written (computer-based) test: it takes place at the end the 20 hours with prof. Crestani and of the 40 hours with prof. Calpestrati. Types of questions: exercises similar to those carried out in class and in self-study (e.g. insertion of endings, insertion of articles, cloze tests, writing of short texts, open-ended questions on the texts dealt with in class). Indicative duration of the intermediate tests: 40 minutes. Those who pass the intermediate test do not have to take the written exam during the official exam sessions and can take the oral exam.
Written (or computer-based) exam: this takes place during the official exam sessions. Types of questions: exercises similar to those carried out in class and in self-study (e.g. insertion of endings, insertion of articles, cloze test, writing of short texts, open-ended questions on the texts dealt with in class). Duration of the written exam: 40 minutes. Those who pass the written exam can take the oral exam.
