Learning objectives
The course, which is shared with German Language 1 (Master's Course) as far as the monographic classes are concerned, aims at improving linguistic skills as Schreiben and Sprechen both in oral communication and writing. Students are expected to analyse Sachtexte (essays and press articles) and literary texts.
Expected learning outcomes
Knowledge and understanding: improvement and refinement of complex syntactical structures and vocabulary; acquirement of further "Sprachgefühl" in both oral and written language; attainment of strategies for oral presentations (Referat) to consolidate linguistic competences; comprehension and analysis of different textual forms (Sachtexte, above all wissenschaftliche Texte, and literarische Texte)

Applying knowledge and understanding: The course, which is complemented by exercise classes with native speakers, aims at obtaining safety in the language acquisition (sophisticated linguistic structures and vocabulary) at a C2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Course syllabus
The course (60 hours), which is held in both terms, provides 9 ECTS. It is not possible to acquire only 6 ECTS.

Title of the course: German Language: writing, and oral communication.

The course consists of the following teaching units:

Unit A (20 hours, 3 ects): Überzeugend online auftreten - Webinare auf Deutsch planen und durchführen (Ahara Bischoff, ahara.bischoff@unimi.it)

Unit B (20 hours, 3 ects): Überzeugend online auftreten - Webtexte wirksam formulieren (Ahara Bischoff)

Unit C (20 hours, 3 ects): Die Macht der Sprache - politische Texte des 20. und 21. Jahrhunderts (Moira Paleari)

Unit A:
Webinars are an effective way to teach at a distance in a synchronous and structured way, especially when held in a foreign language.
The first part of the course offers students the opportunity to learn methodologies and tools to develop and moderate a webinar in German. Specific criteria can be acquired to create a power point presentation; students can also learn the best tools for videoconferencing.

Unit B:
In addition to being able to communicate your ideas orally, you need to be able to write effectively. At a time when digital skills are increasingly required, you need to improve copywriting strategies, i.e. writing texts in German for the web. To this end, Unit B will examine and practice techniques for writing blogs, campaigns and messages on social media, e-mails and corporate pages in German, taking into account the needs and interests of the students.

Unit C:
The teaching unit C proposes an examination of political language starting from a linguistic analysis of texts, with particular attention to the following levels of analysis: syntactic, semantic and stylistic, and the rhetorical methods used in speeches, slogans, etc..

The course programme is valid until September 2022.
Prerequisites for admission
This course is held in German and requires language skills at a minimum CEFR level C1.
Teaching methods
The course adopts the following teaching methods: lectures and lessons which imply the active partecipation of the students (for example with oral presentations), face-to-face activities. In addition, the course is supplemented by practical classes, for which please refer to the Esercitazioni form.

Assessment methods and Criteria
The examination consists of a written part (for the classes with the mother toungue teacher) and other parts concerning the teaching units A, B and C, all compulsory. All tests are evaluated in thirtieths and each part must be equal to 18/30 or more. The students can decide which part they take at first, the written examination or the other ones. Written examinations take place three times a year - May/June, September and January - from May/June 2021; during the year there will be no 'partial tests', but simulations of the written parts of the exam aiming at self-control.

The written examination consist of three parts: 1) a composition (Aufsatz) about actual themes and culture of at least 500 words (90'); 2) a grammar and lexical test C2 (30'); 3) a text of Sprachmittlung (60').
For part 2) the students cannot use a dictionary; for 1) and 3) they can use a monolingual German dictionary.
The written exam is successful only if all the three tests have a grade of 18/30 or more. The grade of the written examination is the average grade of the three parts.
The other parts of the examination are following: 1) an interview with the mother tongue teacher; 2) as far as the monographical part is concerned, the students will attend following tests: Unit A and B: online presentation (Webinar) during the course and the writing of a short web text at the end of the course; for teaching unit C a written test will be held at the end of the course and, on completion of the same, an oral interview on the contents of the lessons.
The students, who cannot attend the course, have to contact the lecturers.

International students or incoming Erasmus students are invited to contact the teacher as soon as possible. The examination procedures for students with disabilities and/or with DSA must be agreed with the teacher, in agreement with the competent office.
