Human Anatomy
A.Y. 2020/2021
Learning objectives
The course is intended to offer the theoretical background in human anatomy moving from the general principles to the detailed analysis of the systems.
Expected learning outcomes
The student will achieve the principles in human anatomy, understand the structure of human body, analyse the systems at macroscopic and microscopic level, and apply this knowledge to science communication and teaching.
Lesson period: Second semester
Assessment methods: Esame
Assessment result: voto verbalizzato in trentesimi
Single course
This course cannot be attended as a single course. Please check our list of single courses to find the ones available for enrolment.

Lesson period
Second semester
Teaching methods
The lessons would take place remotely in both synchronous (Microsoft Teams) and asynchronous (audio lessons in ppt). Lesson recordings will be available on the Ariel website of the course. The synchronous lessons will allow students to maintain a direct contact with the teacher and give the opportunity to have clarifications on the topics covered. A forum will also be organized on the Ariel website of the course as well as Zoom meetings will be fixed to facilitate interaction among students and teacher and answer student questions. All the information regarding the organization of the course, the synchronous and asynchronous lessons, the hours dedicated to question time, as well as any other updates are provided on the Ariel website of the course.
Program and reference materials
The program and the reference material will not change.
Exam and evaluation criteria
The exams consist in an oral interview. Oral exams will be carried out online via Teams or Zoom. The evaluation criteria will not change and are those reported in the syllabus.

Course syllabus
General structure of the human body. Terminology and anatomical coordinates. Classification of organs and their structural schemes. Corporeal spaces and cavities.
System and apparatus dissertation is divided into four parts.
1. Support and Movement: the integumentary system, axial and appendicular skeleton, the muscular system.
2. Integration and Control: the nervous system, the endocrine system, sense organs.
3. Maintenance: the circulatory system, the lymphatic system and immunity, the respiratory system, the digestive system, the urinary system.
4. Reproduction: the male and female reproductive systems, human development.
Close to the general structure of each system an apparatus, the course includes specific and interdisciplinary in-depth analyses that are pivotal to the study of human anatomy in secondary schools and that range from comparative anatomy to health education.
