Learning objectives
Scopo del corso è offrire un'introduzione alla teoria del commercio internazionale nei flussi commerciali fra paesi e fornire un'analisi di base dell'economia monetaria internazionale. Verranno presentati i modelli neoclassici (Ricardo, modello a fattori specifici, Heckscher Ohlin) e i modelli della cosiddetta "nuova teoria" del commercio internazionale, basati su forme di mercato non perfettamente concorrenziali. Si passerà quindi all'analisi della mobilità internazionale dei fattori di produzione e agli strumenti della politica commerciale. L'ultima parte del corso sarà dedicata a una introduzione all'economia monetaria internazionale, con particolare riferimento alla macroeconomia aperta, alla politica monetaria in economia aperta, al mercato valutario e ai modelli di tasso di cambio.

The examination will take place in the classroom in written form or, where the situation does not allow it, in oral form using the Microsoft Teams platform

The model with specific factors

Unit 2
The standard trade model
Economies of scale, imperfect competition, external economies, multinational companies
The instruments of trade policy

Unit 3
National Accounting and Balance of Payments
Exchange rates and currency markets
Currency, interest rates and exchange rates
Price level and exchange rate. PPP

Assessment methods and Criteria
The final examination consists of a written test consisting of three questions relating to the part of international trade and of two questions relating to the monetary economics. These questions may consist of theoretical questions or exercises.
