Learning objectives
The aim of the workshop is to consolidate knowledge and competences in the way in which climate crisis is communicated. After an introduction about Anthropocene, the workshop will focus on the analysis and on the efficaciousness of different media and different contents about the topic of environmental crisis.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the workshop, the student should have developed knowledge and understanding of the communicative dynamics of environmental crisis; Applying knowledge and understanding, with an autonomous and critical evaluation of such processes. Autonomy of judgement and students' communicative capabilities will be developed by discussions and working papers.

Course syllabus and organization

Third trimester
In case of health emergency, the workshop will be held online in the platform Teams. The programme and the materials will be the same. Details will be communicated by email to all the attending students.
Course syllabus
The workshop deals with the issues of the Anthropocene, environmental crisis, climate change and their effects at both systemic level and everyday life. The workshop will discuss how these topics are presented in the media. The programme includes practical exercises on case studies and a reading list of articles.
Prerequisites for admission
The student should have basic knowledge in the field of general sociology.
Teaching methods
In the workshop the lesson will be supported by slides. The workshop includes discussions and working papers. The student will be invited to choose specific topics of study.
Teaching Resources
The workshop takes into consideration different ways of communicating environmental crisis: mass media, scientific journalism, fake news, fiction. The reading list will be announced at the beginning of the workshop.
Assessment methods and Criteria
Training and attending will be verified with a working paper.
