Methods in Pharmacology and Toxicology
A.Y. 2020/2021
Learning objectives
The course aims at introducing students to the main pharmacological and toxicological methodologies used to test drugs and biologicals in the cardiometabolic field.
Expected learning outcomes
Students attending the course in Pharmacological Methodologies will be able to evaluate the regulations
for the use of experimental models and those for clinical and genetic studies. Students will be able to
understand the efficacy and safety of the drug in the preclinical and clinical phases, to discuss critical
aspects of pharmacokinetic.
Moreover they will learn key concepts of imaging techniques in vascular biology for the study of obesity
and metabolic diseases. Finally the different omics strategies used in pharmacology with particular
reference to cardiometabolic diseases will be presented.
