The course aims to provide knowledge of:
- biology of microorganisms and their classification
- basic notions of epidemiology
- groups of microorganisms of particular dental interest and related infectious diseases
- methods of prevention of infectious diseases
- bases of the disinfection, sterilization and sanitizing process
- antimicrobial drugs with particular attention to antibiotics and the phenomenon of antibiotic resistance in the clinical field
- infectious risk in the dental field and risk management
- national and regional health organization
Expected learning outcomes
The student will be able to develop knowledge and understanding of the topics covered and will be able to apply the knowledge in the professional activity, in the preventive and clinical field.
Course syllabus and organization

Single session

Responsible
Didactic methods
The audio lessons of the course will be published on the ARIEL platform. At preset schedule there will be meetings with students on the Microsoft Teams platform for explanations on topics on request.

Program and reference material

Methods for verifying learning and evaluation criteria
The exam will be held in written form in person or remotely (for students outside the region), using the Exam.net and Microsoft Teams platforms.
Prerequisites for admission
The student must have general knowledge of biology
Assessment methods and Criteria
The final examination is a written text with questions aimed at understanding the knowledge of the student and his/her capability to interpret information given in the course.
The evaluation will be weighted according to the CFU provided in each module.
The results, in anonymous form, will be published on the Ariel platform.
