Learning objectives
The course is aimed at providing students with knowledge concerning:
- the application of socio-anthropological theories to the observation and interpretation of health organisations;
- communication patterns between health professionals and patients, including gender and culture differences;
- the evaluation of health related issues based on the holistic bio-psycho-social model;
- the identification and application of theoretical models developed for the analysis, study and implementation of health behaviours in order to promote prevention and adaptive disease management;
- the facilitation of dyadic and group social interactions in the professional context;
- the effective management of the coordinator role, through the acquisition of the main intervention methodologies for the development of individuals, groups and organisations;
- work and organizational psychology models and methodological tools, enhance the skills and potential of individuals and groups in work and organisational fields;
- the acquisition of a systemic perspective that takes into account individual, relational and organizational variables involved in the structure of the work contexts;
- the adaptive management of work related stress and the prevention of risks in the workplace.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student must be able to:
- apply theoretical models developed for the analysis of interpersonal relationships to interactions in the professional context
- assess the determinants of the interpersonal relationship with particular reference to verbal and non-verbal communication within a multi-professional team, between operators and coordinators, between operational teams and administrative and decision-making organs, inside and outside the work setting;
- solve professional and relational problems in the intercultural perspective;
- evaluate interventions and problems in the health domain based on the holistic bio-psycho-social model
- analyse and solve problems related to stress and burnout in the professional team

Course syllabus and organization

Most lessons will take place synchronously through the Teams platforms. If possible, some lessons will be organized in presence, following the indications provided by the University as concerns safety and social distancing, with simultaneous activation of the remote mode via Teams. All lessons will be recorded and made available to students on the Ariel platform, together with additional learning materials.
The course program and materials will not change.
During the emergency phase exams will be performed orally through Teams. Whenever possible, written exams - as decribed in the assessment method section - will be organized in presence, following the indications concerning safety and social distancing. The possibility to perform the exam orally in remote mode will be anyway guaranteed for students living in other regions or countries, as well as for students with serious pathologies.
Prerequisites for admission
No prior knowledge required.
Assessment methods and Criteria
Learning outcomes are assessed through a written test, taking place during specific exam sessions as per the course Rules. The test includes both multiple choice and open-ended questions. All the modules comprised in the course contribute equally to determining the final mark, expressed on a scale of 30.
No intermediate or early sessions are planned.
No teaching materials or notes are allowed for consultation during the exam.
Scores obtained in each module are published on the ARIEL course website.
