Learning objectives
The learning objectives are to develop knowledge related to
- theoretical foundations of individual, group and family psychotherapy;
- relationship and communication with other health professionals, with the awareness of one's own and others' values;
- supportive relationships with the patient and his family, applying the fundamentals of relational dynamics.

Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will be able to
- recognize the distinctive features of the main frameworks of psychotherapy; with reference also to the main frameworks applied in psychosocial rehabilitation, including psychoeducation;
- apply relational and communicative knowledge with other health professionals;
- establish and maintain supportive relationships with the patient and his family.

Assessment methods and Criteria
The examination consists of an oral test aimed at assessing the student's knowledge of the different topics covered and of written test with multiple choice questions.

- Models of interpretation of mental illness in use and forms of therapy derived from them: Classical psychiatric (descriptive nosographic): the therapy is constituted starting from the probability that a certain type of standardized treatment is effective (produces symptomatic changes) for that type of standardized descriptive diagnosis (based on controlled efficacy studies); Psychodynamic psychiatric (functional dimensional): the therapy is constituted starting from the identification of specific problems (which will become the "foci" of the treatment)

- Motivational systems and the model of change
- Interview technique as a path of change.
