LECTURES
- The needs of animals in terms of indoor environmental quality (temperature, relative humidity, pollutants, air velocity). Animal welfare and related rules.
-Environmental changes induced by the presence of animals and facilities for maintenance of the welfare conditions (insulation, ventilation, air treatment).
-Calculation of the ventilation rate in summer and winter, the thermal balance evaluation of livestock buildings.
-Buildings for beef and dairy cattle.
-The environmental requirements, prefab buildings and materials
· Buildings for pigs. Confined and outdoor husbandry, from farrowing to fattening compartment.
· Buildings for poultry.
-buildings for goats.
· The environmental impact of livestock-induced water, soil and air.
· The structures for waste storage, manure removal systems (BAT and traditional ones)

EXERCISE:
Development of the concept of structural design of livestock houses, for cattle, pigs and poultry. Calculation of ventilation rate, thermal needs (from insulation to cooling), farm size according to animals, tank and lagoon size according to animal load.
