Teaching Workshop

A.Y. 2020/2021
3
Max ECTS
20
Overall hours
Language
Italian
Learning objectives
The aim of the workshop is to provide students with a set of tools (methodological, critical) through which to use, in a specific professional field, the skills and knowledge acquired over the course of their studies. In particular, students will be taught how to process some distributed written texts (historical guides).
Expected learning outcomes
By the end of the workshop the student will have acquired the fundamental skills to be able to lay out a short historical guide - a text addressed by its very nature to a wide audience of users - which is not necessarily specialized, yet characterized by high quality and scientific rigor. The student will be able to orient himself in the selection and reworking of the information (bibliographic and historiographic) provided by the scientific literature and will then be able to write a text with those characteristics necessary for its use by a wide audience (brevity, clarity, appropriate language properties).
These skills will be acquired through a direct and ongoing meeting with the instructor in the classroom, which will take place through the reading and selection of the bibliographical material inherent in the territory being analyzed (the Franciacorta). Individual work will also be of great importance, as students, individually or in small groups, will be called upon periodically to draw up short written texts to be discussed collectively within the classroom.
Students unable to attend will be able to make use of the educational tools provided by the instructor on Ariel, investigate special readings proposed by the instructor to strengthen their knowledge, and of course contact the instructor both by email and during the office hours.

Lesson period
First semester
The first half of the course will consist of a series of lectures to be delivered remotely in asynchronous format (either through Ariel or WeTransfer). The aim of these lectures is to survey historical and artistic developments in Franciacorta, and provide students with bibliographical recommendations for further research.
The second part of the course will take the form of classes streamed via platforms such as Zoom and MS Teams. Using both small-group assignments and collective activities, these classes will help students develop plans for an individual research project, which they will be expected to submit by the end of the course.
Course syllabus
The aim is to produce a short historical text (a guide tour), using methods, knowledges, skills acquired during the study attendance.
Students will be leaded in the selection of bibliography and sources about Franciacorta, in the creation of specific historical, cultural, artistic itineraries, and finally in the composition of a brief guidebook on the choosen topic.
Prerequisites for admission
Master degree admission.

The lessons will be divided in a short introduction, composed by some lessons on history and art in Franciacorta in medieval and modern times.
Then, students will delve into a specif topic (churches, castles) and a short text on these specific topics will be produced.
Attendance to classes is mandatory.
Teaching Resources
Didactic material will be provided to students, divided in themes and in towns, during the lessons.
