Learning objectives
The laboratory is conceived for those students wishing to graduate in Ethnomusicology or Anthropology of music. It aims to illustrate the specificities of the music performed by traditional musical instruments, in relation to their morphological characteristics. Special attention will be paid to the instruments of Italian folkloric tradition. The classification of musical instruments, in its general aspects, will also be discussed.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end, students have acquired knowledge of some concrete cases of the relationships between musical practices and the morphology of musical instruments.

Second semester
If the sanitary emergency is to continue, the laboratory will take place electronically.
Students will be able to find all the information to access the laboratory, any changes to the program and any changes to the reference material (any bibliography, etc.) on the Ariel website at the beginning of the 2nd semester.
Course syllabus
The laboratory will deal with the morphological characteristics and repertoires of some musical instruments from southern Italy, the Balkan area and the Middle East, and West Africa.
Prerequisites for admission
The laboratory does not require specific skills.
Teaching methods
Frontal lessons; viewing, listening and discussion of audiovisual materials; depending on the number of members and the sanitary situation, there may be practical examples with traditional musical instruments

The materials will be indicated to the students during the first meeting.
Assessment methods and Criteria
The attendance is compulsory, and there are no learning tests.
