Learning objectives
Attaining C1 level according to the he Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
Expected learning outcomes
Reading: understanding long and complex factual and literary texts, appreciating distinctions of style; understanding specialised articles and longer technical instructions, even when they are not related to your own field.
Listening: understanding an extended speech even when it is not clearly structured and when relationships are only implied and not explicit; understanding television programmes and films without too much effort.

Course syllabus
Reading and listening activities are scheduled in addition to the following topics: Modal verbs, Subordinate clauses, Modal perfect, Cohesion, Future forms, Future in the past, Emphatic structures, the passive, Complex noun phrases, Quantifiers, Conditionals, Verb patterns, Prepositional verbs, Adverbs of degree, Reporting using nouns, Non-finite clauses, Nominalisation.

Important: Students of the program Erasmus+ incoming must contact the Language Centre of the University through Infostudenti Service by selecting SLAM.
Prerequisites for admission
Students who attained a level lower than C1 at the entry-level test will have to attend the course.
Teaching methods
The course consists of 40 hours of in-person learning and 40 hours of self-study on the online platform.

Assessment methods and Criteria
To be admitted to the end-of-course test students must have attended at least 75% of the course and complete at least 75% of the exercises on the online platform by the end of the course..

The assessment is computer-based. Students will have to sit for the test one week after the end of the course. It consists of three parts:

1. Listening: 2 listenings
2. Reading: 2 readings
3. Language: 2 grammar exercises and 2 exercises of vocabulary.

Students who do not attain the level required by their degree program can sit for the test up to five times within their academic career.
Students with disabilities or with specific learning disabilities (SLDs) must contact SLAM through Infostudenti Service in order to receive special arrangements and support for the exam. (Students with disabilities: 50% of extra time; Students with SLDs 30%)
