Learning objectives
The course aims to provide students with the understanding of: (i) the importance of risk management in health care organizations trough a multidisciplinary approach aiming at considering the role of the latent failures particularly in complex organizations such as those devoted to health care delivery; (ii) the main tools available in risk assessment and risk management; (iii) norms, rules and regulations seen as barriers to make health care safer.
Expected learning outcomes
Students: (i) are aware of the change of paradigm in risk management and patient safety; (ii) improve their competence on the use of the basic tools in risk management and risk assessment; (iii) understand the institutional approach to patient safety; (iv) consider how risk analysis can be a useful tool to improve the quality of care.

Clinical risk management: General framework and taxonomy. The information system for the risk management. Tools for assessment, reactive and proactive analysis. From risk management to continuous improvement. Management of health documents and clinical reports as work and protection tool for the professionals
EBP to counteract systemic errors coming from non scientific decision making pathways
Informed consent , care relationship and future treatment planning.
Prerequisites for admission
No prior knowledge needed.
Teaching methods
Lectures using different tools such as slides, short videos, and case discussion are provided.
Teaching Resources
Slides and grey literature uploaded on ARIEL platform.
Assessment methods and Criteria
A written examination on all the subjects of the course. Both MCQ and open question with a short answer are submitted in 60 minuts time. A framework, based on the number of correct answers is used in order to assess the vote. No intermediate proofs are provided.
