Learning objectives
The learning objectives of the laboratory aim to develop the knowledge on the different types of health systems.
In particular, students will be introduced to:
· the key components characterizing different types of healthcare system;
· the existing classifications of healthcare systems;
· the existing indexes used to rank healthcare systems.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the laboratory, the student will be able to:

· describe the basic principles and characteristics that define healthcare systems in the international arena;
· describe the main differences between healthcare systems adopted around the world;
· develop a framework of analysis for health care systems;
· describe healthcare systems according to their classification;
· use a variety of reliable information resources to analyse the performance of health care system.
Further, through the learning work done with case studies, class discussion, and group presentation, participants will develop autonomy of judgment, self-learning capability, and communication and presentation skills.

Course syllabus
Through the laboratory, the following topics will be covered:
· social, economic, and political determinants of healthcare systems;
· the classification of healthcare systems;
· analysis of specific countries healthcare systems;
· international ranks of healthcare systems.
