Learning objectives
The course covers the history of the economy and economic policies adopted in Europe and in the most important non-European contexts, starting from the pre-industrial age up to the end of the twentieth century, with particular attention to international economic relations. The main orientations of economic policy, their distinctive characteristics and the results achieved in the short and long term will be analyzed, in the more general context of the most important economic transformations in European and world history during the last centuries.
The aim of the course is to stimulate the reflection of students on the current economic policy guidelines and on international economic relations, through the acquisition of 1. the knowledge and understanding of fundamental concepts and themes of economic history and economic policies in different spatial and temporal contexts; 2. the ability to reflect on data and information regarding a given economy or economic policy; 3. the ability to communicate their knowledge in a coherent and organic way, using the terminology and the concepts of the discipline
