Learning objectives
The monographic course aims to provide students with the basic notions of theory and method of translation from French into Italian. The theoretical notions are completed by exercises in contrasting grammar and by a practical laboratory focused on translation of prose works texts (Literature and Humanities).
The exercises, dedicated to the technique of compte-rendu d'écoute and synthèse, as well as the preparation of the Diplôme de français des affaires C1, aim to develop oral and written comprehension and expression skills in the students.
By the end of the course, students are expected to reach C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the monographic course, the student will have acquired the tools to deal with the translation from French into Italian of a contemporary text into prose of medium difficulty with method and critical spirit.
Through the work carried out during the exercises, the student will also have developed oral and written comprehension and expression skills, equal to level C1 of the Common European Framework (CEFR).

MONOGRAPHIC COURSE
The monographic course will be divided into three parts:

I SEMESTER
Modulo 1-2 - Theory and method of translation from French into Italian (prof. Bramati)

II SEMESTER

Modulo 3 - Arbitrariness of language and translation (prof. Bramati)


LANGUAGE EXERCISES
The language exercises are divided into three mandatory modules distributed as follows:

I SEMESTER

1) LE COMPTE-RENDU D'ECOUTE (20 h.)

2) LA TECHNIQUE DE LA SYNTHESE (20 h.)

II SEMESTER

3) PREPARATION AU DIPLOME DE FRANCAIS DES AFFAIRES (C1) (20 h.)

Prerequisites for admission
Students must have a knowledge of French equivalent to level B2 of the CEFR.

Assessment methods and Criteria
The examination consists of a written test and an oral test, both compulsory. The methods for taking the examinations will be communicated on the ARIEL platform at the end of the courses, depending on the evolution of the pandemic.

(A) STUDENTS ATTENDING THE COURSE

1) WRITTEN TEST FOR STUDENTS ATTENDING THE COURSE
The written test for students attending the course is divided into three intermediate tests which will take place at the end of the first and second semester.

I SEMESTER
1. a test of technique de la synthèse
2. a test of compte-rendu d'écoute.

II SEMESTER
3. a test of translation from French into Italian.

Students who have passed all the intermediate tests and obtained a sufficient final grade will have access to the oral test.


2) WRITTEN TEST FOR STUDENTS NOT ATTENDING THE COURSE
The written test for students not attending the course is divided into three tests that take place every year in the dedicated appeals in May, September and January:
1. a test of translation from French into Italian.
2. a test of compte-rendu d'écoute
3. a test of technique de la synthèse


ORAL TEST FOR ALL STUDENTS
The oral test for all students consists of an interview in French on the texts indicated in the Bibliography of the monographic course (prof. Bramati)
