Teaching Workshop: Digital Tools for Data-Management and Record-Keeping of Ancient Near Eastern Cuneiform Documents

Learning objectives
The workshop aims at providing theoretical and technical basic notions for cataloguing and managing archaeological and cuneiform documents (data-entry, compose and edit vector graphics images) with open-source programs. Specific case studies from the ancient Near East (4th-1st millennia BCE) will be addressed within the Lab, including cuneiform archives, archaeological sites, and materials.
Expected learning outcomes
Knowledge of methods for cataloguing data with Microsoft Excel (how to create a catalogue; how to quantify and elaborate data). Learning techniques of data-entry, acquisition and editing of vector graphics images with open-source programs such as GIMP, and Inkscape (compose and edit vector graphic images; create a graphic apparatus).
