The aim of the master programme in Modern Humanities is to provide students with in-depth training in the field of Italian literary, linguistic and philological studies on the basis of an advanced methodological, theoretical and critical knowledge. The chronological span ranges from the Middle-Latin and Romance origins to the contemporary age, with a special focus on the areas of study indicated above.
The master programme in Modern Humanities provides broad-spectrum professional skills to be used for career opportunities requiring advanced knowledge in the area of the Humanities, the ability to produce and interpret texts as well as the ability to critically manage information. The employment opportunities open to graduates possessing a Masters degree in Modern Humanities include work in areas such as those of publishing, editing, communication, public relations, information management, management of the cultural heritage, management of research centres in the field of the Humanities (libraries, archives, museums, boards for the management of cultural heritage, etc.), text production and human resources. The programme is also designed to offer students the possibility to obtain credits (ECTS) in the appropriate disciplines necessary to qualify for training as a secondary-school teacher. Graduates with a Master's degree in Modern Humanities also qualify for access to PhD and second level Master's programmes within their area of specialisation.

Possono accedere al corso di laurea magistrale in Lettere moderne i laureati nella classe L-10, che abbiano acquisito 60 CFU ripartiti nei seguenti settori scientifico-disciplinari:
- 18 CFU in: L-FIL-LET/09 - Filologia e linguistica romanza, L-FIL-LET/10 - Letteratura italiana, L-FIL-LET/11 - Letteratura italiana contemporanea, L-FIL-LET/12 - Linguistica italiana;
- 15 CFU in: M-STO/01 - Storia medievale, M-STO/02 - Storia moderna, M-STO/04 - Storia contemporanea, L-ANT/02 Storia greca, L-ANT/03 - Storia romana;

Possono altresì accedere al corso laureati provenienti da altre classi, che abbiano acquisito, oltre ai precedenti, almeno altri 30 CFU compresi nei settori scientifico-disciplinari dei gruppi L-ANT, L-ART, L-FIL-LET, M-STO, M-FIL, M-GGR, L-LIN, L-OR.

Per poter essere ammessi per l'a.a. 2021-2022, i candidati dovranno essere in possesso di tutti i requisiti d'ammissione (laurea, eventuali esami singoli) entro il 31 dicembre 2021.
La domanda di ammissione al corso di laurea magistrale è da presentarsi entro e non oltre il 27 agosto 2021.
Le immatricolazioni saranno aperte dal 15 luglio 2021 al 30 settembre 2021, mentre coloro che conseguiranno il titolo entro il 31 dicembre 2021 dovranno immatricolarsi entro il 15 gennaio 2022.

Al momento della presentazione della domanda di ammissione, lo studente non ancora laureato che intende iscriversi a questo corso dovrà avere acquisito almeno 130 crediti formativi nel percorso di laurea triennale.


Modalità di verifica della conoscenza e della preparazione personale
La verifica dell'adeguatezza della preparazione personale ai fini dell'ammissione è affidata a un'apposita commissione. La commissione si riserva la facoltà di ammettere d'ufficio i candidati che siano in possesso dei requisiti curricolari sopra indicati e che abbiano conseguito un punteggio di laurea superiore a 95; i candidati ammessi in questo modo saranno individualmente avvisati dell'avvenuta ammissione e non dovranno sostenere alcun colloquio. I candidati che abbiano conseguito un punteggio inferiore a 96, nonché tutti gli altri candidati che, anche se in possesso dei requisiti indicati, non abbiano ricevuto comunicazione di essere stati ammessi d'ufficio, dovranno presentarsi al colloquio con la commissione in una delle date previste.

Every year the Department of Literary Studies, Philology and Linguistics offers around forty fellowships through the Erasmus exchange program. Currently, the exchanges cover many of the major countries of the European Union (France, Germany, Spain, Greece, Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, Estonia), as well as Switzerland and the United Kingdom. According to the scientific areas of the Department, the Erasmus exchanges are particularly addressed to students specializing in classics, in medieval, modern and contemporary Italian literature, in philology and linguistics.
La frequenza agli insegnamenti è fortemente consigliata. Ogni insegnamento offre comunque programmi per studenti non frequentanti.
La frequenza ai laboratori è obbligatoria.
