Prerequisites for admission
The course is aimed at students with English linguistic-communicative skills comparable to the intermediate level (B1) according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
Teaching methods
The course aims to develop the laboratory mode: maintaining a mainly interactive format where students must actively contribute to the development of the lesson with activities and / or projects carried out in groups or individually.
Following the indications coming from the recent European policies, the course also introduces the use of innovative teaching methodologies, such as participatory lessons, outdoor education and CLIL (Content Language Integrated Learning), i.e. to integrate disciplinary contents through practical, hands-on activities carried out directly in the field. As part of this experimentation, 2 meetings will be held in co-presence with Dr. Gambazza and the students attending the SUA Laboratory "Places, non-places, hyperplaces. Practices of urban sustainability and commercial resilience";
· N. 1 - on 30-10-2021 h.14.30-16.00 online preliminary meeting (Teams)
· N. 2 - on 06-11-2021 h.14.30-18.00 outdoor meeting in the area on (Zona Portello-Milano) *.
(This outdoor class will be conducted with the CLIL methodology, however, episodes of code-switching with Italian alternations will be guaranteed to allow all students to manage the learned contents ).

* IMPORTANT: for students unable to attend the outdoor exit, materials / documents relevant to the contents treated in the field with activities to be carried out remotely will be uploaded.

For the entire duration of the workshop, we will make use of slides, web-apps, videos and didactic material useful for the execution and exemplification of the topics under study. Representative texts will be analyzed and discussed and will serve as a starting point for lexical and syntactic study. Specific opportunities for interaction and exchange (even remotely) will also be created to allow students to implement the theoretical elements acquired and apply the required disciplinary language.

Assessment methods and Criteria
Being a laboratory, it is not required to take a final exam. During the workshop, students will instead be asked tocarry out specific tasks on precise indications and to submit a final project to which feedback will be given (based on the following descriptors: relevance of content, lexical and syntactic accuracy, and effectiveness in the presentation).
