Learning objectives
The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) diffusion and evolution is considered a vehicle for modernization and innovation for each level of society. Such evolution has recently assumed higher rhythms, representing a true breakdown of concepts. The popularity and widespread use of the web 2.0 in mobile platform's is one of the main causes of this phenomena, which is allowing the creation of a wide range of new services. The transformation that digitalization has promoted is in fact, redesigning business models and the market structure as well as increasing and strengthen the difference in between different countries. In the political agenda of various countries - even in emerging ones - The ITC tend to be considered from one side as a tool to come across spread difficultness and insufficiency, for others, as a challenge to provide opportunities for transformation in each sector. The high expectations, however, in most cases creates disappointing results. According to some studies, the trend to transpose "international best practices" in different countries and culturally heterogeneous areas, adds more complexity to the complicated task of technology transfer. Other authors attribute this issue to the lack of "adaptation" for computerized solutions to the socio-cultural aims. From this considerations emerge the importance of reflection on technological change and its implications. The course aims to:
· provide a general overview of the information and communications technology (ICT), recapping some basics;
· provide the basis for understanding the effects of ICT in an organized setting;
· illustrate - through the use of international research paper - some issues connected with computerization's processes related to emergent countries.
Expected learning outcomes
- Acquisition of the basic concepts of informatics and theoretical perspectives to interpret the theme of ICT from an organizational point of view and also the theme of digital innovation in organizations
