Learning objectives
The course aims to develop reading and writing abilities and metalinguistic reflection through the use of statements and articulated texts. Furthermore, the most significant phenomena of contemporary Italian are analysed. The exercises provide activities to improve listening and speaking abilities. The aim is consistent with the goal of the CdS to create a qualified professional figure of a culturally aware language expert.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course a student will be able to produce clear and articulate texts on various topics relating to his/her field of interest and study, by assessing information and articulated texts taken from different sources, summarising them and stating them with fluency and clarity.
Moreover, he/she will be aware of the existence of an Italian language on the move and he/she has experimented with the lexicografics tools.

Course syllabus
UNIT 1
The unit aims to guide students in understanding and writing texts belonging to different text types. In particular, the morphosyntactic, lexical and textual characteristics of economic and scientific texts will be analysed. Sociolinguistic awareness will be deepened so as to recognise and use different registers, particularly formal ones.
A reading of some stories from the anthology 'Lingua Madre 2022' is also planned (the texts will be made available by the Professor).

UNIT 2
The morphosyntactic, lexical and textual characteristics of history, news and investigative fiction will be analysed.

UNIT 3
The last part of the course will propose the analysis of a musical album by the singer-songwriter Fabrizio De André, in order to illustrate its main linguistic, stylistic and thematic aspects.

Accompanying the course are 60 hours of exercises, which will take place both in semesters I and II. The exercises are aimed at deepening the contents exposed in class and at improving comprehension and production skills, both written and spoken; they are also designed to help in the study of the texts on the syllabus.

Students will be able to access the website Italian Language for Foreigners III, Ariel platform, for further in-depth studies and materials.
Prerequisites for admission
For the third year of the STRANIMEDIA curriculum, B2 level of competence is required for the comprehension of written and oral texts.
Teaching methods
The course is divided into three sections, aimed at strengthening various and coordinated skills and skills, combining metalinguistic reflection with the approach to textual typologies through different teaching techniques.

Assessment methods and Criteria
The exam consists of a compulsory written test, which will be fixed at the end of the course, and an oral test that can be accessed only after passing the written test. It is possible and indeed recommended, as far as the written part is concerned, to do the partial tests concerning each module.
In particular, the written tests are articulated in activities of written production, written comprehension, lexicon, metalinguistic reflection through different teaching techniques: text manipulation, completion, rewriting of the text, cloze.
The oral exam, which will be unique, provides for the verification of knowledge acquired through the texts indicated by the section Reference materials.
