Learning objectives
The course aims to achieve the communication skills required for the A2 / A2 + level of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference). The course will provide students with further knowledge of Russian grammar and vocabulary and aims to further develop language skills as speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Expected learning outcomes
By the end of the course students will be able to understand general and detailed information and to communicate in standard speech on a range of everyday situations (interacting with a tourist guide, studying, shopping, transportation, meals), as well as reading and writing simple texts using descriptive language accurately.

Course syllabus
The course starts with an in-depth analysis of the morphology and semantics of adjectives and pronouns. The central part of the course is dedicated to the verb, where the particular meanings and uses of the perfect and imperfect aspect and the formation of the аspectual pairs are studied and the knowledge on the formation and use of the imperative is provided. Among the lexicon-grammatical classes of the verb, special attention is devoted to verbs of position and verbs of motion without and with prefixes, including their metaphorical uses. In the lexical field, the lexicon of daily life, study and orientation in space will be expanded.
Unit A:
The Adjective. Formation and Morphology. Superlative grade. Comparative degree.
Verbs of motion without prefix. Intransitive verbs of motion (идти - ходить; ехать - ездить; лететь - летать; плыть - плавать) and transitive Verbs of motion (нести - носить, вести - водить, везти - возить).
Introduction to the Verb aspect.
Verbs of position (класть / положить - лежать, ставить / поставить - стоять).
Unit B:
Prefixed verbs of motion. Roots modifications, aspectual pairs.
Meaning and use of the following prefixes (with prepositions and cases): при-; у-: в-: вы-; пере-: за-; про-; под-; от-; до-; об-; с-.

Teaching methods
Lectures and class activities such as texts analysis and exercises, homeworks.
The official course (theoretical lessons) will be accompanied by language practice sessions ('esercitazioni') with mother tongue lecturer, whose aim is to consolidate morphological and lexical structures in a communicative context.

Assessment methods and Criteria
The exam consists of a written and an oral part.
The written test is preparatory to the final oral exam and consists in the verification of passive skills (bending of nouns and verbs, choice of prefixes, prepositions and conjunctions, text comprehension) and active skills (translation of simple and subordinate sentences from Italian to Russian, text production).
Attending students can take the written exam in two stages: an intermediate test at the end of the first semester and a second test at the end of the second semester. The student who passes both tests can directly access the oral exam. Those who fail one of the two tests, must take the written exam concerning the whole syllabus in the official sessions (May, September and January). In in May.
The oral exam consists of an interaction task on the topics covered during the language practice sessions and an interview concerning the theoretical morphosyntactic contents of the syllabus. Students who attend classes regularly may have their language skills assessed through ongoing assessment. Further information will be provided during the practice sessions.
