Learning objectives
The archaeological excavation of advanced level strengthens technical-professionalizing tools acquired in the archaeological excavation of basic level. The main goal of the laboratory is to enable students to find employment in archaeological excavation fields as skilled worker at the end of the training course..
Expected learning outcomes
The laboratory teaches students how to produce graphic and photographic documentation of archaeological evidence and how to use optical and electronic equipment for topographical relief, such as total station and theodolite.

In 2023 the excavation (September-October) provides for the continuation of the archaeological investigation in the L environment of the so called "Alfa Complex", of which only the surface layers of collapse have so far been removed.
On the program is also the illustration to the participating students of the problems of the excavation, of the methods of graphic and photographic survey, of the washing systems and preliminary cataloging of the finds. Each day includes field activities and hands-on lessons.

Prerequisites for admission
It is necessary that the students have already carried out the didactic archaeological excavation laboratory, so they must have excavation experiences.
Teaching methods
Some organizational meetings and preliminary frontal lessons are foreseen on site safety, on the use of tools, on the compilation of the archaeological excavation documentation, and finally on the history of the settlement under investigation, that is the Peuceta inhabited area of Jazzo Fornasiello (Gravina in Puglia , Bari). Directly on the field the student will be able to put to good use when learned theoretically in the classroom.
