Learning objectives
The proposed activity is aimed at presenting narrative writing techniques and practicing them helping the students to develop an awareness of the distinction between private writing and a kind of writing addressing a public audience.
In the first phase of the workshop, students will be provided with tools to distinguish writing modes (private, social, public), literary genres, linguistic and expressive registers. They will reflect on the different forms of storytelling, including hybrid modes (traditional genres and hybrid genres). The students will then be led to production, individually and in teams, on topics identified collectively through the activities proposed by the coordinator. The workshop will essentially take place in presence.
The complete and active participation to the activities proposed during the 20 hours of the workshop will result in the acquisition of 3 cfu.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the activity, students will be able to
- Understand the distinction between private and public writing
- Distinguish different genres and understand the resources offered by each genre
- Work on the texts produced, sharing them and integrating feedback into the production of a new text
- Understand the reciprocal relationship between sender and receiver.

The syllabus is aimed at presenting narrative writing techniques and practicing them helping the students to develop an awareness of the distinction between private writing and s kind of writing addressing a public audience.
In the first phase of the workshop, students will be provided with tools to distinguish writing modes (private, social, public), literary genres, linguistic and expressive registers. Prerequisites for admission
The students must be fluent in Italian and they must be familiar with literary text, with specific reference to prose. Some experience in creative writing is also welcome.
Teaching methods
1. Theoretical lesson: recognition of traditional narrative genres, with specific reference to formulaic genres; identification of the structure of the narrative text; preparation for writing (identification of the theme and documentation); ways and times of writing.
2. Team work: students will be asked to produce texts, which will be discussed collectively, with the aim of producing a final (individual) revised text. In this phase, students will also be made aware of editing procedures.
Teaching Resources
There are no theoretical texts to list. We will mainly work on the practical construction of stories, sampling useful examples when needed.
Assessment methods and Criteria
All along the work in class, the students will be involved in several writing tasks, in group and individually. Final grading will result from the single steps of our work
