Urban Planning and Design I

Learning objectives
The course aims to provide students with the fundamental knowledge and critical coordinates of the Italian territorial planning system at different scales. The 12 ECTS are structured in such a way as to acquire tools to analyse, evaluate and design urban and territorial systems in their environmental context. The didactic contents conveyed by the teaching are connected to the common educational objectives of the course of study, deepening the operational tools aimed at guaranteeing the care and the governance and sustainable development of land and territory with its resources. The teaching contributes to the achievement of CdS educational objectives, consistently with the professional profiles and employment opportunities envisaged for the entire training course.
Expected learning outcomes
On successful completion of the module a student will be able to
1) Know techniques and methods to analyze settlement systems, in their environmental and landscape context
2) Understand the possibilities and limits for intervening on the territory in the framework of the natural and anthropogenic risks to which they are subject and of the socio-economic variables by which they are influenced
3) Apply knowledge and understanding developed in the case study exercises to operate at spatial and landscape planning level.
4) Exercise critical, communicative and study transversal skills to present the results of the elaborations on case studies analysed
5) Operate with ample autonomy to carry out the exercise of the profession with mastery of the scientific method of investigation and techniques aimed at analysing spatial and landscape systems.
