Reading comprehension: reading articles and reports concerned with contemporary problems; understanding contemporary literary prose.
Listening comprehension: understanding extended speech and lectures and follow even complex arguments as long as the topic is reasonably familiar; understanding most TV news and current affairs programmes in a standard language

Prerequisites for admission
The course is addressed to those students who did not pass the entry test and attained at least the B1 level or to those students who submitted a B1 level certificate.
Teaching methods
The course consists of 40 hours of remote learning integrated by self-study on an online didactic platform.

Assessment methods and Criteria
To be admitted to the end-of-course test students must have attended at least 75% of the course and completed at least 75% of the exercises on the online platform by the end of the course.
The test is computer-based. Students will have to sit for the test about one week after the end of the course. It consists of three parts:
1.Listening comprehension: 2 exercises
2. Reading comprehension: 2 texts
3. Language: grammar and vocabulary exercises.
Students who do not attain the level required by their degree program can sit for the test up to five times within their academic career.
Students with disabilities or with specific learning disabilities (SLDs) must contact the SLAM Centre through the Informastudenti platform, 'Language Test' category, to receive special arrangements (Students with disabilities: 50% more extra time; Students with SLDs: 30% more extra time).
