Learning objectives
Public perception diverging from the scientific community may decrease the effectiveness of scientific inquiry and innovation as tools to solve these challenges.
The objective of this course is to identify, through the analysis of scientific and non-scientific sources, the factors associated with the divergence of public opinion from scientific consensus regarding animal nutrition, the safety of genetically modified, the use of antibiotics in animal feed and the alternative protein sources.
Finally, possible solutions to future challenges will be presented in compliance with the principles of the nutrition ecology and the one health (animal, man and environment).
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will gain knowledge, skills and ability on:
-innovative aspects of animal nutrition
-scientific opinion, evidence-based, on the discussed issues
-the factors associated with the divergence of public opinion from scientific consensus
-valuable information sources for fighting infodemics and misinformation
-the crucian role of the science in the global challenges
