Dermatology

The course aims to provide students with the basic concepts for a correct classification of dermatological pathologies. The student will be shown with iconography and clinical description the primary and secondary dermatological lesions of the skin and its treatment (pathogenesis, clinical, diagnosis and principles of therapy) especially the most frequent dermatological pathologies in the skin area and in the body as a whole including severe skin diseases related to systemic diseases. Through an in-depth study of the pathophysiological mechanisms, we will seek to enhance the biological and biochemical learning of the previous courses, favoring in the student the development of links between the various teachings. The principles of dermatological therapy based on the historical (galenic) tradition and on the modern pharmacological acquisitions (immunosuppressants, immunomodulators) and physical (lasers) will be introduced.

The learning paths are articulated in an area of general knowledge of the skin and in address areas. Learning outcomes are the reference for the didactic organization of the specialty. Learning also includes the articulation in competences, skills and knowledge that refers to the clinical areas of competence. The educational area aims to provide learners with basic preparation, acquired through the strengthening and development of practical cultural axes of knowledge of the following dermatological areas: Fundamentals of anatomy and physiology of the skin, visible appendages and mucous membranes Methodology and specialist semeiotics, elementary skin lesions Itching Burns and non-ionizing radiation damage Bacterial diseases (erysipelas, cellulitis, furuncle, impetigo, folliculitis, Gram-intertrigo, scarlet fever) Mycotic diseases (dermatophytosis, pityriasis versicolor, candidiasis) Viral diseases (herpes simplex, herpes zoster, chicken pox, HPV diseases, molluscum contagiosum, hand-foot-mouth disease) Ectoparasitosis: scabies, pediculosis, insect bites Eczematous diseases (atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, and other dermatitis) Urticaria and angioedema Psoriasis Autoimmune bullous diseases (pemphigus, pemphigoid, dermatitis herpetiformis) Vitiligo Alopecia (alopecia a offense, telogen effluvium) Connective diseases (Lupus erythematosus, scleroderma, dermatomyositis), vasculitis Common drug reactions (exanthema, fixed erythema) Reactions from severe drugs (Stevens-Johnson syndrome, Lyell's syndrome) Skin ulcers Angiomas and vascular malformations Lesions benign proliferative (seborrheic keratoses, papillomas, fibroids) Epithelial neoplasms (actinic keratoses, spinocellular epithelioma, basal cell epithelioma) Kaposi's sarcoma Nevi and melanoma Pathology of the nails.
