Learning objectives
The course aims at:
- Transmitting the basic knowledge of urban law
- Observing the evolution of urban law in light of the sustainable development principle
- Allowing a reasoned approach to the main issues arising from the dynamics between public and private interests in the ambit of constructive activities
- Providing the basic mechanisms of public and private contracting aiming at the realization of works
- Allowing awareness on the most modern contractual techniques at an international level, aiming at the institution of collaborative models of interaction

Expected learning outcomes
Knowledge and understanding: Students should demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the subject matters and, with the support of advanced textbooks, reach a level of proficiency including leading edge aspects of this field. By the end of this course, students are expected to master the essentials of: the basic concepts of urban law; the principles and general rules of public contracting; the main issues of the constructing activities; the collaborative contractual techniques.
Applied knowledge and understanding: it is desirable that the students applied the knowledge and comprehension capacities by demonstrating a professional and multidisciplinary approach to their work, and that they acquired the necessary competences to develop and hold complex arguments to resolve issues in the field of urban law and construction law.
Making judgements: Students should develop the ability to gather and interpret data to make independent judgements, being also aware of the relevant social, scientific or ethical consequences.
Communication skills: Students are expected to learn how to communicate information, ideas, raise problems and propose solutions to both specialist and non-specialist audience.
Learning skills: Students should develop the necessary learning skills for them to undertake further studies with a high degree of autonomy.

Prerequisites for admission
There are no prerequisites for admission
Teaching methods
The theoretical frontal lessons will be supported by slides. The analysis of case studies will be carried out with the participation of students.
Teaching Resources
The textbook will be indicated within the first lesson of the course
Assessment methods and Criteria
The exam will be an oral test and it will assess the students'skills in understanding the fundamental topics of the subject. Students who will attend the course could be asked to write short papers, before the oral exam.
