Learning objectives
The course aims at providing students with a legal framework regarding the rights of peole with disabilities, through a critical analysis of the current legislation and the most important case-law.
Expected learning outcomes
- Knowledge of the specific legislative context and acquisition of autonomy in reasoning and interpretation;

- acquisition of skills in personal rielaboration of the basic notions and in their application to the cases;

- skills in understanding the importance of a multidisciplinary method

Course syllabus
The course focuses on the rights of persons with disabilities, the instruments of protection against the various forms of discrimination they suffer, and measures to promote a culture of inclusion.
The analysis will start from an examination of the relevant constitutional principles on the subject. Attention will also be devoted to supranational regulations and in particular to the provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which has also contributed significantly to a change in the cultural approach to the issue.
Through the more specific examination of current legislation and case law, moreover, the lectures will investigate the forms of guaranteeing the rights of persons with disabilities in the fields of education, work, health and assistance.
Particular space will be devoted to analysing the most recent innovations, including Law No. 227 of 2021.

Exam of Constitutional Law and Private Law
Teaching methods
Lessons on general topics integrated with lessons on specific cases, also with the participation of lawyers, public administrators, social workers, experts who directly work with persons with disabilities.
The course aims also at stimulating the active participation of the students, who will eventually prepare class presentations on current cases and specific topics.

Assessment methods and Criteria
Examination method: oral exam
Evaluation criteria: students shall be able to express notions correctly, to use appropriate terminology and prove reasoning skills. Any work done by students during the course agreed with the lecturer will also contribute to the assessment.
