Learning objectives
The course aims to analyze the main macroeconomic issues by using the IS / LM model extended to an open economy as a reference. The determination of the level of income and employment, the exchange rate and the balance of financial markets are the main topics addressed in the first part of the course. The second part analyses the financial markets and monetary policy also in light of the financial crisis of 2007/08 and the sovereign debt crisis in Europe
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course students will have acquired the ability to understand the aggregate dynamics of an open economic system and the influence of monetary policy and the financial system on its cyclical evolution.
