Reading: reading articles and reports concerned with contemporary problems; understanding contemporary literary prose.
Listening: understanding extended speech and lectures and follow even complex arguments as long as the topic is familiar; understanding most TV news and current affairs programmes in a standard language.

Reading and listening activities are scheduled in addition to the following topics: Present perfect simple and continuous, Indirect questions, Quantifiers, Definite and zero articles, Future continuous, going to, Future perfect simple, Modal verbs, Narrative tenses, Used to/Would/Get used to, the Passive, Verb patterns, Causatives, Ungradable adjectives, position of adverbs, Relative clauses, Reported speech, Third conditional.

Prerequisites for admission
Students who attained a level lower than B2 at the Placement Test will have to attend the course.
Teaching methods
The course consists of in-person learning, or virtual classroom in synchronous mode via MS Teams, and self-study on the online platform.

Assessment methods and Criteria
To be admitted to the end-of-course test students must have attended at least 75% of the course and complete at least 75% of the exercises on the online platform by the end of the course.
The assessment is computer-based. Students will have to sit for the test one week after the end of the course. It consists of three parts:
1. Listening: 2 listenings
2. Reading: 2 readings
3. Language: 3 grammar exercises and 1 exercise of vocabulary
Students who do not attain the level required by their degree program can sit for the test up to five times within their academic career.
Students with disabilities or with specific learning disabilities (SLDs) must contact SLAM through Informastudenti - Language Test category in order to receive special arrangements and support for the exam. (Students with disabilities: 50% of extra time; Students with SLDs 30%).
