Learning objectives
The course aims to provide students with the bascic specific knowledge related to the disciplinary vocabulary and the theoretical-methodological skills to understand geographical and socio-economic issues of a complex nature.
Expected learning outcomes
The student will acquire the ability to deal with geo-territorial problems presented in critical, autonomous and proactive terms.

Course syllabus
The course aims to retrace the historical evolution of Human Geography. The lessons will illustrate the different theoretical currents of Geography up to the main contemporary developments of the discipline. Thereafter, the many varieties of geography will be presented, especially focusing on Climate Change and the History of Climate to show the relevance of the geographical approach in the analysis of the great contemporary issues.
Prerequisites for admission
Basic knowledge of the main historical events of the modern and contemporary age and of the main physical and human geographical features of Italy, European and non-European countries.
Teaching methods
The main teaching method will be lectures, however having regard to encouraging a significant involvement of students with multimedia materials, digital tools, dialogic lessons, and the intervention of experts in the discipline.

Assessment methods and Criteria
The exam is a one-hour-and-a-half written exam with open-ended questions. If the number of students enrolled in the exam would be too large, the exam will take place over several shifts. The shifts, organized according to time slots, will be arranged at the time of registration for the exam.
It will not be possible to derogate from the registration order.
The exam will be intended to verify the student's knowledge of the topics covered during the course as well as the contents of the proposed bibliography.
The evaluation criteria will consider:
- The use of the specific language of the discipline.
- The ability to analyze and argue geographical facts and phenomena.
- Accuracy and precision of the answers given.
The assessment is expressed in /30. Minimum passing grade 18.

Course syllabus
The course programme consists in the presentation and discussion of the following topics: historical development and the current state of the discipline; variety of Geographies and multiplicity of disciplinary approaches, with a focus on the relations between Geography and Literature.
Prerequisites for admission
Basic knowledge of the main historical events of the modern and contemporary age and of the main physical and anthropic geographical features of Italy, European and non-European countries.
Teaching methods
Frontal lessons will be the main teaching method. Videos on geographical topics will also be broadcast during the course, in order to deepen some specific issues.

Assessment methods and Criteria
There will be a single test in the form of a oral question. No intermediate or pre-appeal tests are planned. The evaluation parameters will concern the ability to organise knowledge discursively, the ability to reason critically on geographical issues, the quality of the presentation and the competence in use of specialised vocabulary. The marks are expressed in thirtieths.
