Learning objectives
At the end of the course the student will be able to:
‒ Assess patient's vital parameters
‒ Recognize and manage clinical emergencies, both in in-hospital and out-of-hospital setting
‒ Perform basic life support maneuvers in adult and pediatric patients
‒ Perform primary and secondary assessment in trauma patients
‒ Perform first aid interventions
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of this course the student must have learned the following topics:
‒ Management of medical emergencies
‒ Cardiac arrest (etiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis, treatment)
‒ Basic life support (chest compression, ventilation, defibrillation, treatment of airway obstruction)
‒ Pediatric cardiac arrest (etiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis, treatment)
‒ Trauma (head, thorax, abdomen, primary and secondary assessment)
‒ First aid interventions (etiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis, treatment of the following conditions: shock, stroke recognition, hypoglycemia, dehydration, eye injury, bleeding control, straightening an angulated fracture, open chest wound, spinal motion restriction, cooling of burns, dental avulsion)
