Learning objectives
The course will provide scientific and cultural bases to contribute to the development and improvement of animal husbandry in a continuous changing environment.
Expected learning outcomes
During the course it will be acquired the following informations: the basics of animal domestication, demographic analysis and production of the main farmed breeds, the methodology currently used for morphological
and functional evaluation of the subjects.

Course syllabus
The program covers the following topics:
1. Domestication of animals of zootechnical interest (4 hours)
2. Demographics of the main breeds (3 hours)
3. Production parameters of the main breeds reared (3 hours)
4. Definition of Zoognostics (1 hour)
5. Definition of breed (1 hour)
6. Analysis of the various regions of the body and evaluation of morpho-functional correlations. (4 hours)
7. Somatic measurements and zoometric indices (2 hours)
8. Linear morphological evaluation in dairy and beef cattle. (10 hours)
9. Evaluation of the usefulness and applicability of the latest genetic analysis technologies (4 hours)

No prerequisites are required. This indication is valid for both attending and non-attending students.
