Learning objectives
The course aims to provide the basic notions of work and work/environment related diseases, of the organization of prevention and health promotion and legislation on health and safety at work.
At the end of the course the student must be able to integrate the knowledge of work and work/environment related diseases in relation to clinical medical practice and public health.
Expected learning outcomes
Knowing work and work/environment related diseases as well as the organization of prevention and health promotion and legislation on health and safety at work.
Applying knowledge in clinical practice, in particular how to conduct a work history and recognizing the deontological and regulatory obligations regarding the protection of health at work (occupational disease and a condition that can determine a problem of fitness to work).
Knowing how to communicate knowledge related to work and work/environment related diseases in an effective and relevant way and to promote practices aimed at maintaining and promoting health in the workplace and the adoption of healthy lifestyles.
Demonstrate to have developed the learning ability necessary to continue in its study and professional path of updating and putting into practice the fundamental knowledge to preserve and promote the health of the individual and of the communities.

"Purpose and organization of occupational medicine Reference legislation on health and safety at work
Principles of toxicology and occupational hygiene and occupational epidemiology
Collection of work history with focus on occupational and environmental risk factors
Health surveillance of workers, diagnosis of occupational disease, job fitness, health promotion
Work and environment related diseases due to exposures to chemical, physical, biological and psychosocial risk factors
Occupational cancers

Teaching methods
Frontal lessons with power point presentations; the discussion of clinical cases is planned. The slides integrated with bibliographic material are uploaded to the ARIEL platform.

Assessment methods and Criteria
"The exam includes a written test and consists of 31 multiple choice questions. The exam is passed if the correct answers are more than 17. At the discretion of the student it is possible to take a supplementary oral test.
The results are communicated through the examination report service of the University."
