Learning objectives
The objective of the course is to introduce the basic principles and mechanisms of organizational design as well as the organizational changes that the digital transformation implies. To this purpose, the couse will discuss the main theories and tools aimed at the analysis and design of organizational structures as well as the main strategies that can facilitate the introduction of technological change in organizational contexts.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student will have gain the main knowledge and skills needed to analyze and design organizational structures. Furthermore, the student will become aware of the digital transformation taking place in the organizational landscape and its effect on different sectors and contexts. More specifically, the student will be able to understand and manage the impact of ICTs both in terms of organizational design and management of strategical and social aspects related to their adoption.

Course syllabus
The course is divided into three main modules: 1) Organizational design; 2) Technological component of the organization; 3) Social component of the organization.
The first module aims to provide students with the notions relating to the basic principles and mechanisms of organizational design. The main conceptual and technical tools for analysis and design of organizational structures will be provided.
The second module focuses on technology-enabled changes experienced by contemporary organizations. A critical analysis is provided on relevant digital trends, with a view to digital transformation advantages and disadvantages.
The third module will instead deal with the management of processes and social dynamics within organizations and how these are impacted by new technologies.

No prerequisites.
Teaching methods
Teaching is based on interactive lectures with the use of blackboard and slides, classroom discussions and questions, analysis of case studies, group work and student presentations.

· Daft R. L. (2021) Organizzazione Aziendale, Maggioli Editore, Apogeo Education, Santarcangelo di Romagna (settima edizione)
· Slides and complementary and in-depth didactic material illustrated (i.e. illustrated case studies) during the lessons and placed in Ariel web- space
Assessment methods and Criteria
The written exam consists of a first part with multiple choice questions and a second part with open-ended questions.
