Learning objectives
The internship represents the completion of the student's educational path through the acquisition of integrative knowledge inherent to the sector of the scientific research, in the case it is carried out at the university, or through the acquisition of knowledge regarding various aspects of the productive and of the market world, in the case it is carried out at external structures operating in the herbal or similar field.
This formative experience also allows the students to approach the job's world, allowing them to face contact with this reality in a more conscious way.
Expected learning outcomes
The internship experience will allow the student to acquire a greater level of in-depth knowledge and understanding of some of the aspects related to the plant product, therefore being able to use the basic cognitive tools for carrying out experimental, technical, management tasks, etc., at the same time finalizing its knowledge for the solution of specific problems concerning the different professional fields. The student will acquire the basic knowledge to work independently in a research laboratory, if the thesis is carried out in an experimental laboratory.
The verification of the ability to apply the knowledge acquired during the internship will be carried out by assessing the obtained results and the overall quality of the student's thesis. In case of external experience at a company, the evaluation will be carried out based on the judgment of the company tutor, allowing to obtain further information on the results of the internship program.

Course syllabus and organization

Course syllabus
The student must compulsorily carry out a practical training period in public or private research laboratories, companies and public structures after which 12 CFU will be recognized. The Course, through the COSP, stipulates special agreements with the external structures hosting the students. In general, the topics object of training could be: cultivation, processing, packaging and wholesale and retail trade of medicinal plants, their parts and derivatives; analysis of active ingredients; product quality control; preparations and applications of derivatives such as health, cosmetic and food products; legislative and regulatory aspects that guarantee product quality and professional ethics.
In the case of experimental activity, this experience will be particularly useful in the case the student will continue the career in master's degrees.
Prerequisites for admission
It is advisable to start the training period no earlier than the third year to be sure that the student has acquired a sufficient preparation.
