Learning objectives
The course aims to provide students with elements in the fields of legislation, technical standardization, and business organization, with a particular attention to the activities related to food industry, distribution and service. In more practical terms, one of the course's goal is to provide the notion required to pass the exam for the access to the Biologists' Italian professional association (Ordine Nazionale dei Biologi).
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students should have developed the skills to fulfill with a self-confident and productive approach a future professional role in the fields of human nutrition and food technology.

"Corporate Organization" Module.
Legal rules for the profession of biologist: structural laws.
Rules concerning biologist professional skill (food safety, biological risk, environment, cosmetology).
International, european and national standards organizations (ISO, CEN, UNI)
· Quality systems. Conceptual evolution: from voluntary trends to legal requirements.
· Quality management principles.
· Conformity assessment.
· Environmental management systems.
· Social accountability.
· Occupational safety and health prevention in workplaces.
· Legislative and technical evolution: from workplaces to frequented places.
- Legislative implementation resulting from Coronavirus pandemic.
Prerequisites for admission
No preliminary knowledge is required.
Teaching methods
Interactive frontal lessons integrated by powerpoint presentations. Students are stimulated to actively participate to the lessons in order to improve their critical ability.
Attending to lessons is highly recommended.
Teaching Resources
All rights of international and national standards are reserved. Therefore teaching resources are represented by PowerPoint presentations containing abstracts of legal rules, Comments and assessments on technical standards are also provided.
Assessment methods and Criteria
Oral exam consisting in open questions aimed to assess the knowledge of the student about legal and deontological rules.
The ability of the student to apply international and national standards is also evaluated.
Results are immediately notified to students.
Partial exams during the teaching semester for students attending the course are not planned.
