Learning objectives
The workshop aims to present the figure of the Classics (Greek and Latin) teacher in secondary schools, in an era of continuous challenges stemming from the ever-increasing distance of the ancient world from the contemporary one and from the constant confrontation with progressively evolving multimedia tools and techniques. The workshop aims to offer a guide to help understand to whom, why and how to teach the Classics within a school system that tends to marginalise them.
Expected learning outcomes
Brief knowledge of the Italian school system relating to classical culture and awareness of what is required in terms of professional skills and abilities, to undertake a career as a Greek and Latin teacher. A recognition of the main cultural, administrative, and practical operations that the teacher uses in carrying out his/her duties. Reflection on the role of the teacher of Literary Disciplines, Latin, and Greek (teaching class A13 in the current Italian school system).
