Learning objectives
The course aims to provide students with the basics of the history of the book and bibliographical history, in addition to developing knowledge related to research and bibliographical citation. The lessons will be supported by enumerated bibliography tutorials, descriptive bibliography tutorials and, where possible, visits to the library in order to become familiar with the different types of published artifacts (especially ancient and modern printed books).
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will have to demonstrate their knowledge of the disciplinary areas of bibliographical studies and other documentary sciences, the historical evolution of the book as an object, and bibliographical studies as a discipline, namely methods and techniques of research and bibliography citation. The student should also be able to move smoothly between the different areas of application of bibliographical studies: catalogues and bibliographical indexes, research methods, techniques for retrieving and evaluating information online, editorial features of the bibliography equipment. The student will have to demonstrate their knowledge of how to communicate clearly and correctly the content learned and that they have mastery of the specialist lexicon of the subject. Students opting not to attend the lessons will be able to use the educational tools provided by the instructor on Ariel and meet face to face with the instructor, also to agree on further in-depth readings if necessary, during office hours.
