Learning objectives
The course aims to enable students to know and to understand French grammatical structures, in particular complex sentences, and to know and understand formal and semantic structure of French lexicon: recognizing simple and constructed lexical units, being aware of lexical creation processes and loan words; distinguishing between polysemy and homonymy, recognizing the main tropes underlying changes of meaning, analysing key semantic relationships.
Practical language classes objectives: to consolidate and to develop reception, production and interaction at different levels, corresponding to the CEFR levels B1, B1+.
Expected learning outcomes
Knowledge: students knows and understands
French grammatical structures and in particular on complex sentences; they know the basics of French lexicology.
Skills: students are able to analyze - including in a contrastive way - the characteristics of French complex phrases, and to master their use to improve written and oral production; they will also expand their active and passive lexical competence.

Skills acquired through Practical language classes
Achievement of B1+ level for all linguistic-communicative activities. Reception: ability to listen and to understand contemporary audiovisual texts in standard French (films, documentaries, television broadcasts); ability to follow (with guidance) French lessons / lectures with argumentative structure; reading and understanding news articles / dossiers in standard French on current issues recognizing the author's attitudes / points of view; reading and understanding contemporary fiction and non-fiction texts.
Production: expressing oneself orally in a clear and correct manner from the point of view of morphosyntax and pronunciation; knowing how to write short clear and detailed texts with the help of a monolingual dictionary, using linguistically correct French with relevant lexical choices.
Interaction: actively participate in conversations / interactions in French on familiar topics (also with reference to texts and films covered by the program).
