Learning objectives
Students will be given the opportunity to know the Medical Humanities through an access to the cultures, arts and literatures that define them. Students will be enabled to understand texts from heterogeneous cultural areas (literary, critic, theatrical and, to an extent, medical) prevailingly in English, selected according to the program.
Expected learning outcomes
Students will be given the opportunity to understand the importance of an active cooperation between the humanities and the so-called hard sciences in the process of healing. He/she must be able to present his/her study at the exam, organizing contents in the most effective way and following the professor's suggestions during classes and/or tutorial activities.

Title: When medicine and literature work together: the Medical Humanities.
The workshop aims at attract interest on the recent ways of cooperation between the humanities and the so-called "hard" sciences, meaning with them in particular the medical studies. It is actually a coommon belief nowadays that they both can benefit from a mutual interaction, in particular for what concerns the psychic health of the patient.

Prerequisites for admission
Students must have a B2 linguistic level in English, since they will be reading texts in the English language. A basic knowledge of English Literature is recommended.
Teaching methods
Classes will develop on both a lecture-based method and collaborative or students-run activities.

Assessment methods and Criteria
Students will show a brief oral presentation (PPT) during the last lesson of the workshop. Students' participation during the workshop will be properly evaluated and will add up to the final mark.
